Classic Shooter ‘Red Faction’ Gets a PS4 Physical Release Next Month
Today during Limited Run Games’ E3 presentation, the publisher announced that a PlayStation 4 physical release of the old-school and beloved shooter Red Faction is launching on July 12, 2019.
The THQ developed first person, Red Faction, also known as Red Faction 1 (RF1), initially released on May 21, 2001 for the PlayStation 2, and later released on other consoles. The story of Red Faction is set on Mars in the year 2075, where citizens have been attracted to mining jobs at Ultor, with claims of great pay and great adventures, as well as a brilliant life back at Earth.
Sounds great, right? Well, things don’t necessarily go as plan as life in the mines is downright unbearable, and human rights for the miners are non-existent. If that isn’t bad enough, there’s a strange disease going around called “The Plague”. With life on Mars being terrible, to say the least, an underground resistance called Red Faction is formed, and the player is a part of it as they take on the role of Parker.
In the game, players can be an ultimate resistance solider badass as there’s awesome first-person shooter combat with an epic arsenal of weapons to enjoy, environments that can be completely destroyed in real-time, vehicles to cruise with, and so much more.
