Red Dead Redemption Now Available on PS4 & Switch for $49.99; Both Run at 30 FPS

Rockstar Games has announced its classic Western action-adventure game Red Dead Redemption, and its zombie horror title companion Undead Nightmare, are now available on  PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch in a single package for $49.99. A physical release is planned for October 13, 2023.

Both ports feature 30 FPS and “up to 1080p resolution on the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4, up to 4K on the PlayStation 4 Pro, and in full 4K on PlayStation 5 (via backward compatibility).”

Further, the Game of the Year Edition is included, featuring “the classic Tomahawk, Explosive Rifle, and Golden Guns weapons,” and the Savvy Merchant and Expert Hunter outfits. Hardcore Mode for Red Dead Redemption is also included, alongside PS4 trophy support and in-game achievements for the Switch.

The port conversions are handled by Double Eleven Studios, and PlayStation players can utilize backward compatibility on PlayStation 5. Additionally, the following additional languages are supported for the first time:

  • Simplified and Traditional Chinese
  • Korean
  • Polish
  • Brazilian Portuguese
  • Russian
  • Latin American Spanish

Red Dead Redemption has protagonist John Marston hunting down the Van der Linde Gang across the American West and Mexico to save his family. Undead Nightmare, on the other hand, is a reimagined story expansion that transforms the environment into a zombie horde that John seeks to find a cure for.

In the latest entry, Red Dead Redemption 2, Arthur Morgan fights to protect the people of the Vanderling Gang. During the game, players will travel with the gang over various terrain and missions. The story will rely on the choices made by the player to focus on how the gang grows and whether or not they are accepted into everyday life.
