Red Candle Games, developers of acclaimed horror titles Detention and Devotion, have announced through their official Twitter account that their next game has been funded through their own store.
The KickStarter-esque platform has raised NT$ 4,039,862 as of writing this, which is approximately $141,723.43 USD. With 48 days left in the campaign, it seems likely that Red Candle Games has a strong chance to hit further funding goals. Some of those goals include an easier Story Mode difficulty, in-game cutscenes, an alternate ending, and hidden bosses, with further goals yet to be revealed.
We've done it! #NineSols is successfully crowdfunded in less than 24 hours! Thank you all for your tremendous support! 🙏More stretch goal will be revealed soon. For more info check out https://t.co/q6rxADhUI3

Titled Nine Sols, their upcoming game is a hand-drawn, 2D action-platformer that takes place in a Taopunk world, which combines cyberpunk and sci-fi elements with Taoism and Far Eastern mythology. Combat is influenced by Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, with deflection playing an essential role in combat, melded with 2D side-scrolling exploration. All this is combined with anime-influenced visuals and Eastern instruments mixed with “dark electronic sound.”
Nine Sols is currently projected to come out in Q2 of 2023. It’s planned to release on major consoles, as Red Candle Games has stated that they already have PlayStation and Nintendo Switch dev kits. For more information, check out the funding campaign on the Red Candle Games website.
