Whitethorn Games announced that the maitan69-developed puzzle adventure, Re:Call, will launch on PC via Steam on January 17, 2023.
The publisher released a new trailer that provides the updated release date and a fresh look at the gameplay.
There’s currently a free demo available on the Steam page that allows players to understand the game’s quirks and mechanics. Still, Re:Call has players play through the memories of characters that they control. Flashbacks are used to recount events, but players can alter history by making new choices during the flashbacks. This is ultimately used as a puzzle mechanic as players figure out ways to progress without dying.
Further, ten characters appear throughout the story, each with their own quirks. The game’s narrative sets up the reasoning behind the character’s powers and why they are using them. Then, based on player action, they’ll inch forward to solving each crime while winning the hearts and minds of their enemies in the past.
It’s a unique mechanic and one that we enjoyed after playing at PAX West 2022.
We’ll be sure to keep you updated on the release of Re:Call.
For now, you can watch the new trailer to get a preview of what awaits you when the game launches next month:
