Rance X: Showdown Contains A Larger Word Count Than The Lord of the Rings Trilogy and Baldur’s Gate 3

Reports are circling after Larian Studios founder shared that Baldur’s Gate 3 contains triple the world count of The Lord of the Rings books. This is an incredible achievement. The word count of The Lord of the Rings trilogy is 480,000 words, and Larian Studios is taking into consideration all of the cutscenes found within Baldur’s Gate 3.

However, localization editor Andrew ‘Steiner’ Hodgson shared an interesting fact about the upcoming English release of Rance X: Showdown. Evidently, the upcoming Rance adventure has an even more extensive word count than this, which is a contributing factor to the reason why the game’s English release is taking so long. Steiner shared, “Hmm… Just did a rough check and if it’s right, the Rance X loc already clears this number. No wonder my wrists were hurting.”

Rance X: Showdown was initially released in Japan in 2018. The game features a fantasy narrative that follows everyone’s most loved or hated protagonist, Rance, who is on a new adventure with Sill, where he’ll encounter the world leaders in an attempt to bring peace to the world. However, in doing so, he likely will do it without any consideration for those around him, and he’ll likely hook up with a few of the characters along the way. Regardless, we’re looking forward to this new Rance outing.
