Classic Shmup ‘Radiant Silvergun’ Coming to Steam Next Week

Developer Treasure and publisher Live Wire have revealed the release date for Radiant Silvergun on PC via Steam. The classic shoot’em up game originally developed for arcades and Sega Saturn will be available on Valve’s store on November 3, 2023.

Radiant Silvergun is a spiritual predecessor to Ikaruga, Inspired by sci-fi anime of its time, the game tells the story of a group of four people and a robonoid barely surviving the destruction of Earth inside the space cruiser TETRA. It all happened in July 14, 2520 AD, when a strange object was excavated.

However, once their resources come close to an end, they’re forced to do a reentry mission. Inside the atmosphere of Earth, the team finds itself now battling for survival. One unique aspect of the game was that it featured a weapon level up system.

The game features a soundtrack by Hitoshi Sakimoto, whose other works include titles such as Final Fantasy Tactics, Final Fantasy XII, and 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim. The Steam version includes Classic and Modern versions so players can enjoy it like the Sega Saturn or the Xbox Live Arcade editions. Online rankings and a mode following the Ikaruga ruleset are also available.
