Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 Introduces RPG-Inspired Skill Battle and Other Modes in New Trailer

Sega released a new trailer for Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Nintendo Switch, on December 8, with a PlayStation 5 release planned for Holiday 2020 and a PC release scheduled for 2021.

The trailer introduces the various modes available to players. In Skill Battle, players will be able to create teams of three from a roster of character and use their unique skills during a match. Throughout the game, players learn new abilities the more you use them, with some even having skills that complement others. To win, players only need to reduce an opponent’s HP to 0 by popping Puyos and clearing lines. During the Adventure mode, players can also level up characters stats to take on stronger opponents. There are also Item Cards available to make matches a little easier.

Online features include Puzzle League, where players can take on formidable opponents across Puyo Puyo and Tetris’s combination. There’s also Free Play mode with up to four players across Versus, Skill Batlle, Swap, Fusion, and Big Bang modes, as well as custom matches.

Digital pre-orders are live for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X, with a launch edition providing a set of three cards from the Sonic the Hedgehog series. Also, there is post-launch content planned for December 8 that will include additional features and characters.

Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 blends Puyo Puyo and Tetris, where players can switch between the game modes for an addictive experience. This sequel will add new modes for offline and online play. In Skill Battle mode, players can equip cards and utilize characters for unique abilities to turn the battles’ tide.
