PUBG Mobile Unveils Teams Competing in Preliminary Rounds

Tencent and PUBG Mobile revealed the 16 squads that will clash during the PUBG Mobile Open 2019 Fall Spilt Preliminaries starting Saturday, November 23 through Monday, November 25, with the Global FInals taking place Friday, Nov 29 to Sunday, December 1. The teams are competing for a prize pool of 2.5 million USD.

The teams that will be facing off at Putra World Trade Center in Kuala Lumper, Malaysia are as follows:

  • Victory Five – China
  • Tempo Storm – North America
  • Omen Elite – North America
  • Red Canids Kalunga – South America
  • Swat69 – MENA
  • Goskilla – Wildcard
  • Futbolist – Europe
  • Asterion Myth – Europe
  • IND – South Asia
  • INS – South Asia
  • Synerge – South Asia
  • Bigetron RA – Southeast Asia
  • Orange Esports CG – Southeast Asia
  • MEGA Esports – Southeast Asia
  • Detonator – Japan
  • Party Gaming – Korea

To celebrate alongside the event, PUBG Mobile announced an in-game event called “Time to Shine” that will be running from now until Sunday, December 1. Within the event, players are able to vote for their favorite teams by completing missions. Those that vote will also have the opportunity to earn in-game rewards for doing so.

Those interested in the e-sport action in person can purchase tickets from the official website or more rather stream the event from home can tune into the PUBG Mobile Esports Youtube channel.

For those that need a refresher, PUBG or, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is a hit Battle Royale that gained its popularity during its time on Steam early access when it hit 2 million concurrent players October 2017, two months before even reaching its full retail release on December 20th, 2017.

Now PUBG is available on Xbox One, PS4, iOS, and Android. Cross-platform play is also available between Xbox One and PS4.


Author’s Take: I dropped off the face of the earth when it comes to PUBG but it’s great to see it being taken seriously as an esport given the early balancing issues. Especially on mobile, no easy feat.
