Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis Chapter 5 Update Now Available; New Slayer Class & 2nd Anniversary Celebration

SEGA has just released the brand-new April update for Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis, which includes Chapter 5 of the Arks Chronicles, the new class, Slayer, and the Gunblade weapon type, and preparations for New Genesis’s 2nd Anniversary. After a long 22-hour long maintenance, this new update takes players to the huge structure floating in the sky, known as Leceil. How will the protagonists get to the “floating island” known as Leceil and what lies in store for them inside? The secrets of Halpha, long shrouded in mystery, will finally be revealed.

In preparation for the newest class, players can now get their hands on the new Gunblade weapon category via in-game drops starting today. However, it should be noted that as of right now, Gunblades can’t be equipped, nor can you select the Slayer task from the Class Counter just yet. That will require players to wait until the class itself releases on April 12. Still, you can now exchange the Slayer Preparation Tickets for valuable items such as Special Scratch Tickets and Arms Refiner II, as well as Gunblade weapons.

Several quality of life improvements were also added. All Weekly Tasks’ rewards have now been adjusted, and Leah May’s tasks have also been adjusted to give more EXP than before for all players. Furthermore, Boss enemies in Trainia and other content will have HP gauges displayed on them, and additional visible patterns were added to Critical Damage Highlight Display. Following up, New Genesis will be celebrating its 2nd Anniversary on April 19. Central City, the open field, and Region Mags will all be decorated for the occasion. A Limited-time Urgent Quest: Happy Rappy Rumble will also be available, where players must assist Peppy Rappy in defeating 300 enemies. By completing the quest, you can exchange Event Points for rewards through Xiemi, such as the new 8-star Revita series weapons.

Alongside this, new high-difficulty quests titled Duel Quests will appear. These quests can only be played solo and are meant for players who are confident in their soloing skills.

Lastly, two new Scratch Tickets are coming to the game. The first is Combat Classics, featuring a light combat garb, flight jacket-style Outerwear, and more. The second Scratch Ticket, Armor of Darkness, will feature sci-fi samurai outfits, suits with mecha parts, and more. Combat Classics is now available at the time of writing, and Armor of Darkness will be releasing on April 19.

Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis is a new MMORPG part of the PSO2 universe but is a brand new adventure offering upgraded visuals and a new narrative, amongst other quality-of-life updates. It is considered a “huge-scale update” to Phantasy Star Online 2. Players will find new game systems created using a new graphics engine. The update was made to celebrate the series’s 2oth anniversary and the tenth anniversary of Phantasy Star Online 2.
