Professor Layton and the Curious Village Brings the Beginning of the Series to Mobile Devices
Level-5 released the launch trailer for their adventure puzzle title Professor Layton and the Curious Village, remastered for iOS and Android devices and coming out on September 26.
Originally released on Nintendo DS in 2008, Professor Layton and the Curious Village brings the first entry in the series to mobile devices for a new generation to discover. The game has been digitally remastered in HD and now includes a brand new animated cut-scene.
Professor Layton and the Curious Village stars Professor Layton and his apprentice Luke as they find themselves in a town called St. Mystere. Evidently, a wealthy baron had recently passed away and in his will stated that he has hidden a valuable “golden apple” in the village. Whoever finds this item will inherit his entire estate. It’s up to Professor Layton to search for clues and find the golden apple at the request of the baron’s widowed wife.
Players will get to solve puzzles and interrogate civilians as they get closer to the truth surrounding the item.

Author’s take: Has it really been 10 years since Professor Layton first launched? I sadly slept on this series when it first launched in North America but realized that was a mistake after playing some of the other entries. We’ll see if this is the remastered release the series needs to urge the developers to create a new adventure for the Professor.
