Private Disgaea 7 Academy Video Discusses The Absurdity of Disgaea Mechanics; LV 9999 Cap & Throwing

Nippon Ichi Software has recently released the Private Disgaea Academy series of YouTube videos on its official channel. This quirky set of videos plans to teach potential players all about the absurd mechanics of the Disgaea series.

In this first video, hosts Archer and Jiang Shi learn about the trillion damage system and the LV 9999 cap that characters can attain. Furthermore, details about the ability to grab and throw allies and enemies on the battlefield are also elaborated.

You can watch the first video, titled “First Period: What is Disgaea?” here:

Disgaea 7 is set in a world known as the “Hinomoto Netherworld Cluster,” inspired by Japanese culture. The game will be directed by Shunsuke Minowa, who previously worked on Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance, and is said to retain much of what fans love about the series, including its over-the-top characters and strategy RPG systems. These elements of the series make it “infinitely” replayable to many of the fans.

The story follows Fuji, a poor demon who is allergic to human expressions, including emotions such as love and friendship. Further, other characters include Piririka, Ao, Wey-yasu, and Higan Zesshousai, who each join the adventure. A new feature of the game is Dodeka MAX, where the character grows larger than the map and can unleash powerful attacks on multiple enemies.

Additionally, items can now be reincarnated to be stronger, similar to weapons. Characters can also be reincarnated to return to level 1, but with the option to retain some of their stats. Disgaea 7 will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch on January 26, 2023, in Japan only for now, with no notice of a Western release date as of yet.
