To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the classic beloved platformer Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Ubisoft has shared a vague brief update on the development of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake.
They explicitly stated the following:
As you know, the passionate team at [Ubisoft Montréal] is reimagining this legendary story, and we are glad to announce today that the project has passed an important internal milestone and development is progressing.
We look forward to sharing more in the future!
For those unaware, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake has faced severe development complications. In May 2023, the title was stated to still only be in its conception phase.
Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Remake is releasing for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC at some point. But those platforms probably aren’t certain anymore.
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time was initially launched in 2003 for PlayStation 2, GameCube, Xbox, and more.
The series’ next release, Prince of Persia The Lost Crown, will launch for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Amazon Luna, and PC via the Epic Games Store and Ubisoft Store on January 18, 2024.
Sargon is part of a group of warriors called The Immortals, assigned the task of rescuing Prince Ghassan. They explore Mount Qaf, which has recently become hostile, and they discover that time itself is a force to be reckoned with. The title will boast a soundtrack composed by the Iranian-born composer Mentrix alongside Gareth Coker.
