Spike Chunsoft Playfully Teases Potential Zero Escape Switch Ports Again; Aiba Does Remind Me of Phi

Spike Chunsoft has been simultaneously embracing yet evading the Zero Escape fanbase with rather overt potential teases for the games arriving on Nintendo Switch. Around the time when AI: The Somnium Files – nirvanA Initiative was initially announced, a brief official Twitter clip was shared in which it showcased protagonist Mizuki playing Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors, the first entry of the Zero Escape trilogy.

Then, earlier today, the publisher shared another teasing Zero Escape tweet in the context of AI: The Somnium Files – nirvanA Initiative, with Mizuki playing the second game in the trilogy, Virtue’s Last Reward. Of course, considering how meme-heavy the community is, these occurrences could be seen as nothing more than playful taps on the shoulder. Still, if a tease of this nature happens again with the final game in the trilogy, Zero Time Dilemma, this cycle will go full circle.

Of course, there is the chance that AI: The Somnium Files – nirvanA Initiative could contain inherent narrative connectivity to Zero Escape, yet considering how Mizuki is purposefully playing on a device highly similar to the Nintendo Switch, you can’t really blame anyone for assuming Nintendo Switch ports of the trilogy are eventually on the way. Regardless, I’m just rambling. I just can’t believe they’d go for the Zero Escape Switch joke twice.

Zero Escape: The Nonary Games, a collection housing the first two titles, is available on PC and every modern console except for the Switch. In fact, it got ported to Xbox earlier this year.

The latest tweet referring to Zero Escape by Spike Chunsoft is viewable below:

AI: The Somnium Files – nirvanA Initiative shows an event where the right half of a corpse was discovered, but the left half was never found until six years later. However, the body has shown no signs of decay, as though it’s only a day old. New special agent Mizuki and her AI partner Aiba are tasked to solve the Half Body serial killings. Kotaro Uchikoshi is confirmed to be the Scenario Writer. Hardcore fans can pre-order the game’s Collector’s Edition, which has a bunch of goodies.

AI: The Somnium Files – nirvanA Initiative is releasing for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch, and PC on June 24, 2022.

AI: The Somnium Files is currently available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.
