Pokemon UNITE Release Window Revealed With Crossplay Confirmed for Switch and Mobile Devices

The Pokemon Company International announced that the TiMi Studio Group-developed strategy team battle game Pokemon UNITE will launch on Nintendo Switch in July 2021 and mobile device in September 2021.

Alongside this was a huge announcement from the development team confirming some key aspects. First, Cross-play between the platforms is planned. Players will switch between the versions and keep their data using their Nintendo Account or Trainer club account. Although whether or not cross-play will be available on release has yet to be said.

Other details include licenses to use each pokemon that players must acquire through in-game currency. Players can earn Aeos coins and tickets by playing the game, while Aeos gems must are bought with real money. Coins and gems are spent in the item shop and can be used to get new licenses or fashion for your pokemon. Players will also use gems to level up a battle pass which will have them complete missions to earn more rewards.

Pokemon will be split into groups denoting their playstyle Attacker, Defender, Speedster, Supporter, or All-Rounder. Stats and a legendary UNITE move will be unique to the pokemon but will generally fall into one of these categories.

An exact release date hasn’t been revealed for either version, but more details about it should be coming soon as the launch window draws closer.
