Pokémon Sword and Shield Reveals Expansion Pass Which Adds Two New Areas and More Pokémon
During this morning’s Pokémon Direct presentation, The Pokémon Company International and Nintendo announced that Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield will each receive an Expansion Pass DLC.
The Expansion Pass is separate for both titles and introduces two new areas to the game, The Isle of Armor and The Crown Tundra. With a planned release window scheduled for June 2020 and fall 2020, respectively.
The new areas will introduce new Pokémon along with new characters to meet. Additionally, players can allow some of their Pokémon to gain the ability to Gigantamax, such as Rillaboom, Cinderace, and Inteleon.
The Isle of Armor is a giant island with many beaches, forests, bogs, caves, and sand dunes. The island is home to many kinds of Pokémon as well as a dojo that focuses on a particular training style.
The Crown Tundra features a shining, silver landscape. The frigid environment is home to many new Pokémon as well as small communities of people. There’s also a certain person who will appoint the players as the leader of their exploration team, tasked with investigating the frozen land. This adventure will lead them to Pokémon Dens, which they’ve only seen a glimpse of in Max Raid Battles.
Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield take place in a new region known as the Galar region, which is filled with the countryside, city, and snow-covered environments. Players will also be able to choose from new starter Pokémon Grookey, Scorbunny, and Sobble as they work towards becoming a Pokemon Champion. The game will feature online components as well where players are able to camp and compare Pokémon.
