The trailer focuses heavily on how trainers will be able to train their Pokémon by using what is known as “Mint”. This will power up specific stats on a Pokémon such as their Special Attack and Defense. There is also XP items available to power up your Pokémon.
Additionally, from launch until early January 2020, Trainers will be able to encounter a higher rate of Gigantamax Pokémon.
Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield take place in a new region known as the Galar region, which is filled with the countryside, city, and snow-covered environments. Players will also be able to choose from new starter Pokémon Grookey, Scorbunny, and Sobble as they work towards becoming a Pokemon Champion. The game will feature online components as well where players are able to camp and compare Pokémon.
