Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Introduce The Paldea Region, 3 Story Routes, Terastallize Gimmick & More

Nintendo, Game Freak, and The Pokémon Company have shared their newest Pokémon Presents broadcast detailing future events to occur within the realm of video games.

Several developments were revealed regarding Pokémon Unite, Pokémon Go, and more. However, the most significant reveal was undoubtedly the new trailer for Pokémon Violet and Pokémon Scarlet.

The ninth generation region’s name was confirmed to be Paldea. Further, the games’ respective legendary is a mount that can climb, swim, and fly by changing forms. The player character is a student at the Naranja Academy in Scarlet and the Uva Academy in Violet.

• The academy’s director is named Clavell.
• Jacq is the homeroom teacher who teaches biology.
• Arven is an upper-classman and an adept cook.
• Penny is a shy student in your year.
• Grusha is the ice-type Gym leader.

An independent assignment called Treasure Hunt allows players to find treasure of their own across three stories. One comprises achieving all Gym badges. And as previously confirmed, there is no set path for completing them. The other two stories were not specified.

The Paldean regional form of Wooper was introduced, adopting a brown coloration with poison typing. A newly introduced Pokémon is Fidough, which is rather fluffy. Cetitan is another new Pokémon that boasts large horns and can freeze its vicinity.

The Union Circle functionality initiates co-op with up to three friends. The entire region can be explored with who you play with. The Terastallize phenomenon causes Pokémon to shine like gems, affecting all Pokémon in the region. It enhances their typing and move efficacy. Further, some Pokémon even change their typing when this mechanic is in effect.

For instance, Pikachu can become a Flying type, and Drifloon can become Fire. Eevee is explicitly showcased as being possible to change into a Water or Grass type. 18 types have been confirmed as well.

Tera-raid battles can be initiated with other players, which contain Pokémon with rarer typings. Attacking and healing can occur during these battles without having to wait for allies’ actions.
