Pokémon Scarlet & Violet DLC Teases Arrival of New Pokémon That Debuted in the Anime
The Pokémon Company, Game Freak, and Nintendo have announced that the latest mainline outings in the Pokémon franchise, Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet, will see the arrival of a new Pokémon in the upcoming DLC titled The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero. This same Pokémon also debuted in Pokémon Horizons: The Series, which aired its first episode in Japan.
The identity of this creature is still unknown, but it’s stated to be reminiscent of the legendary Pokémon Terapagos. Despite its miniature stature and low strength, “it can crystallize the energy in its body to form a protective shield.” Further, when it feels like its life is in danger, it can enter a dormant state, pulling its head, limbs, and tail into its shell, looking like a jewel.
This DLC will be divided into two parts; the first part is The Teal Mask launching in the Fall of 2023, and the second part is The Indigo Disk, which will launch in the Winter of 2023.
The Teal Mask will let players visit the land of Kitakami as part of a school trip beyond the Paldea region. In addition, a regularly held festival in the land will be conducted as players try to figure out the truth behind multiple folktales. On the other hand, The Indigo Disk will have players study as an exchange student in Blueberry Academy. Cumulatively, over 230 Pokémon will return via both DLCs.
The Teal Mask will feature new Pokémon Okidogi, Munkidori, Fezandipiti, and the new legendary Ogerpon.
