New Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Trailer Details Upcoming Treasure of Area Zero DLC; Teal Mask & Indigo Disk

During the Nintendo Direct, we were graced with a brand new trailer for the upcoming Pokémon Scarlet & Pokémon Violet Treasure of Area Zero DLC.

The first part called the Teal Mask, released in Fall 2023, was the first to be highlighted as players show flashes of different Pokemon before the new character Carmine welcomes the Paldean Trainers to Kitakami and challenges them to a battle. Finally, ending with a shot of a talking about the three Guardian Pokemon.

These Pokemon are not named in the trailer, but we get to see that they are a dog, a monkey, and a bird, most likely a pheasant, as it appears that these Pokemon are based on the legend of Momotaro. This is further reinforced by the fact that they protected Kitakami by defeating the evil ogre and a sign showing the three Pokemon chasing after a little boy.

The trailer’s second half shows off The Indigo disk, which will be released in Winter 2023. This trailer portion is much shorter, opening up with a large building floating on top of the water. Cyano welcomes the player to Blueberry Academy, and we get glimpses of the Terarium, a land split into four distinct biomes enclosed inside the disk. It then capped off with a look at more Pokemon and battles ending with a shot of the new Legendary Pokemon.

Returning Pokemon from Part 1 will include Sentret, Gliscor, Corphish, Vulpix, Aipom, Yanma, Johtonian Wooper, and Snorlax. While Part 2 will feature Minccino, Blitzle, Golurk, Alolan Executor, Seel, Dewgong, Whimsicott, Metagross, Reuniclus, Milotic, Flygon, and Alcremie. While these aren’t the only returning Pokemon we will see coming to Scarlet and Violet, the trailer confirms these.

Interestingly, the first half of the DLC will include mostly Pokemon from Generation 2, while the second part includes many of the Pokemon from Generation 5. Whether or not this will remain true when more returning Pokemon get confirmed remains to be seen. However, we will keep up to date with any new announcements.

Check out the trailer below if you missed the direct earlier this morning.
