Pokémon Legends: Arceus Reveals Nearly 2 Minutes of New Gameplay Footage

On Nintendo Japan’s Youtube, their recent “Cat Mario Time” video revealed roughly 1 minute and 45 seconds of new Pokémon Legends: Arceus gameplay footage. Various bits of exploration and Pokémon real-time interaction are displayed, providing a sense of the type of open-world esque experience players can look forward to in early 2022. I also had no idea this “Cat Mario Time” segment was even a thing, but the more you know, I guess.

You can view the newly revealed Pokémon Legends: Arceus gameplay footage below (timestamped at 6:00):

Between these reveals and the fresh new components of the battle system, some bold steps are being transparently taken here. While I wasn’t sold on this title during its initial reveal, this newly revealed footage is undoubtedly amping up the hype.

The sheer premise of a Pokémon title being set this far in the past is enticing enough, and I hope that the game’s execution embraces its contextual strengths well. Based on the trailer, that certainly seems to be the case, but we will merely have to wait and see how every game design aspect coalesces early next year.

Pokémon Legends: Arceus is releasing for Nintendo Switch on January 28, 2022.
