Sony has announced a new system software update for the PlayStation Portal, scheduled for release on March 18, 2026.
The major addition with this imminent arrival is the 1080p High Quality mode, which allows streams at a higher bitrate than the standard 1080p setting. This results in improved image clarity and smoother visual performance when using Remote Play or Cloud Streaming. The option can be enabled through the Quick Menu by selecting the new resolution mode.
For Cloud Streaming, a redesigned interface now makes it easier for players to choose specific titles within game bundles. Notifications for game invites have been improved to ensure players don’t miss invitations while streaming, and trophy pop-ups now display clearer information, including trophy names, images, and enhanced animations for Platinum trophies.
Additional updates include a more responsive search interface, with the on-screen keyboard appearing immediately.
Players setting up the device can now create and sign in to their PlayStation accounts more easily using a QR code-based system.
