PlayStation Launches Sony Pictures Core on PS4 + PS5 for Film Access; PS Plus Premium Bonuses Detailed & Crunchyroll Anime Content Teased

PlayStation has announced Sony Pictures Core, formerly known as Bravia Core, for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.

“Bravia Core will be rebranded to Sony Pictures Core on these devices next year, and starting today, we’re launching the Sony Pictures Core app on PS5 and PS4 consoles.”

Signing up for this service on one’s console will allow users to rent or buy up to 2,000 films, with Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Uncharted, The Equalizer, No Hard Feelings, Bullet Train, and Ghostbusters: Afterlife, and more movies planned for launch. Further, select films will be purchasable via an exclusive early access window. Some markets, notably the U.K., France, Germany, and Japan, will receive Gran Turismo: Based on a True Story for early access first.

Subscribers of the PlayStation Plus Premium/Deluxe tier will have a curated catalog of up to 100 films “through the Sony Pictures Core app to stream on demand from the Sony Pictures library as part of your membership.” This will be ad-free and updated occasionally. Films like Looper, Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV, Elysium, and Resident Evil Damnation are featured.

Sony Pictures Core is now available on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 across 23 global markets as an app on PSN’s media section. Select Crunchyroll anime content is planned to arrive in the future as well.
