Playism has announced that free Steam Next Fest demos are now available for the upcoming Team Ladybug action metroidvania Blade Chimera and the Adventurer’s Tavern maid cafe adventure Maid Cafe on Electric Street.
Blade Chimera is planned to be released for PC and Switch in August 2024.
Players control protagonist Shin, a Demon Hunter suffering from amnesia. He is currently exploring the world with his sword, the transformed Lumnia demon Lux, as he remembers his past, his missing wife, and his skills. Remembering skills will cause Lux to alter form depending on the wielder’s will, causing Shjin to become stronger and gain access to more parts of the world.
The narrative of Blade Chimera occurs in the near future, where a Demon War has begun due to the sudden appearance of warped monsters and ghouls. After three decades of war, the remaining humans form the Missa Association, a religious group with a leader who knows how to combat the demons best. This development helps civilization thrive.
Shin was reduced from a cryopreserved state three years ago and became a standout warrior for the Missa Association. He eventually encounters a beautiful demon named Lux, whom he takes in even if it goes against the Association.
During gameplay, Shin’s blade interacts with the past and creates new platforms. Other useable weapons include daggers and long-range guns.

I played through the demo of Blade Chimera yesterday, and it is incredibly good. Team Lady Bug has outdone themselves with their pixel art and animation. Just stunning work.
