PlatinumGames has released a new trailer revealing that Sol Cresta is really in development for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
In the new trailer, we see what the collaboration effort with Hamster Corporation has become since it was first teased one year ago, which was presumed to be an April Fools joke. This game will act as a follow-up to the 1980 release Moon Cresta and 1985 release Terra Cresta.
The gameplay seems to resemble classic shmup titles by utilizing an arcade-like resolution along with available powerup, different ships, and lots of charm.
I’d like to just point out that it’d be rare to find full-blown Cresta fans out there, but it’s nice to see PlatinumGames focused on bringing back this retro series, even if it is leaning on a joke. The developer has recently begun self-publishing their titles as well with the release of Wonderfull 101 Remastered for modern platforms. This title could very well be their next release, but whether or not they’ll host a Kickstarter for it, is yet to be seen.
The trailer doesn’t share a release date, but it does say that the game is now in development at the end.
We’ll keep you updated on the development of Sol Cresta.
