Jupiter has announced a new title in the Picross S line of puzzle games. Picross S7 will be available in Europe and Australia on December 27 and a little after in North America on January 10, 2022. Besides the new puzzles, Picross S7 will also feature the introduction of long-awaited touchscreen controls, which have been missing in all Switch titles in the series so far.
The Picross series is a classic nonograms-style puzzle franchise that started back on the Game Boy with Mario’s Picross. The concept of the games revolves around figuring out the correct positions of colored squares in a grid forming a picture as your reward for completion.
In Picross S7, there are 485 new puzzles divided into five categories. There are 300 Picross and Mega Picross, a category that combines numbers for two lines. Color Picross, which feature multiple colors as part of the logic puzzle, amount to 30 new challenges. Another group of puzzles is the Clip Picross, which features various pieces for a compound image, with a total of 150 puzzles.
The 5 missing puzzles are the large Extra content, with two of them being unlockable and the other 3 being available to players who have play data from previous games. This was also the case for previous games in the series, though this time the titles which are required for unlock are S4, S5 and S6.
