Not too long ago, developer Netmarble brought their free-to-play, mobile adventure RPG, Phantomgate: The Last Valkyrie, to iOS and Android. Now, Netmarble has unleashed an update for the Nordic-inspired game that adds a brand new dungeon called the ‘Dimensional Rift’ for brave players looking to test their skills in high-difficulty and high-reward combat.
The Dimensional Rift is an all-new series of stages that resets every week. Players can choose from multiple dungeons in order to ascend to higher tiers for progressively tough fights with plenty of monsters and bosses to take down and receive even greater rewards by doing so.
After entering the easy peasy first floor of the Dimensional Rift, players can re-enter completed stages with no limit, so you have the power to jump back in and out of completed stages anytime you’d like. By traversing and completing stages, players can earn the right to summon and collect all-new Phantom Essences (collectible companions) that can’t be found anywhere else.
Along with a massive series of stages added, the latest update for Phantomgate: The Last Valkyrie includes plenty of other quality improvements that’ll make all players jump up and down. Here’s a full rundown of those improvements:
Entry-level improvements, including:
- Reduced Entry Level and Monster Health for Chapters 1-2 and new players being gifted a Four-Star Phantom after clearing Stage 4 of Chapter 1
- Gate Zone attempts are increased from five to ten times
- Adventure stages play speed is increased by 10%
- Direction signs have been added to Adventure stages to guide players
- Other improvements, including enhanced PVP matching, adjustments to Phantom balance and miscellaneous bug fixes.
If you’ve yet to traverse deep within this mystical RPG, Phantomgate: The Last Valkyrie is inspired by the rich tradition of Nordic myth and has players join Astrid, a courageous young Valkyrie who is on a journey to save her mother from the clutches of the mad god Odin. It features a unique mix of side-scrolling, puzzle-filled adventures, and a unique twist on classic turn-based RPG combat with real-time PVP features.
Along with Phantoms, Astrid’s collectible companions — which there are over 300 of them to collect — she’s joined by four Hero characters that help out along the way.
Phantomgate: The Last Valkyrie is available as a free download (with in-app purchases) on iOS and Android.
Author’s Take: The Phantoms mechanic seems like it’s something I’d be interested in. I get completely sucked in with games that have a monster collecting element, so I’ll give Phantomgate a try.
