Sega’s Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis Celebrates 1st Anniversary; New June Updates

In the latest Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis Headline, developer SEGA revealed to all players more details about the highly anticipated snowy mountain region, Kvaris, that will be included in the upcoming update on June 8. New enemies were also introduced, such as the Crocodylis, Proctys Ael, Proctys Retem, Malachroid, and Ams Kronels. Details about the upcoming May update, which will celebrate the game’s 1st anniversary since release, were also revealed.

Starting off, the navigator, Hiro Arai, showed a variety of new AC and SG scratches coming to the game during May. The first scratch ticket is the Playful Grappler one, sporting martial arts outfits with a sci-fi twist. More outfits from the original PSO2 will also come in the latest SG scratch ticket, optimized for the NGS engine. Lastly, the Original Creations A banner will also be released. Last year, the developers held a contest where players could design an outfit to be in the game, and now, the first batch of winners will be available for players to pull for.

Fresh new looks for each field will be implemented to celebrate the New Genesis 1st Anniversary Event. During the event, players can find Anniversartichoke and Randomite for a limited time, as well as clear new Limited-Time tasks and obtain rewards such as pre-strengthened equipment and new emotes to use on the field. Various EXP buffs will also be in place to celebrate the anniversary, so now’s your chance if you were thinking of starting the game.

Lastly, the new characters accompanying you in the Kvaris region were also revealed. The first is the energetic girl, Meri, who will be voiced by Konomi Kohara in Japanese and Corina Boettger in English. The other is her companion, Kukka, a calm and collected young man who lives with her. He will be voiced by Miyu Irino (Sora’s Japanese voice actor) in Japanese and by David Cui Cui if you choose the English voice option. More details about the region will be revealed in the following Headline, scheduled at the end of May.

Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis is a new MMORPG part of the PSO2 universe but is a brand new adventure offering upgrading visuals and a new narrative, amongst other quality-of-life updates, and is considered to be a “huge-scale update” to Phantasy Star Online 2. Players will find new game systems created using a new graphics engine. The update was made to celebrate the series’s 2oth anniversary and the tenth anniversary of Phantasy Star Online 2. 

Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis is available now on Xbox One and PC as a free-to-play game.
