Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis Shares July Update Details & New Roadmap

During their NGS Headline, developer SEGA revealed the latest details about the July updates that are coming to the Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis game. The developer also showcased a brand-new roadmap for the second half of 2023, showcasing a timeline of the upcoming collabs, quests and new features that players can expect in the coming months.

The first event that was introduced was the PSO2 11th Anniversary Event, which celebrates the original Phantasy Star Online 2 release in Japan. Aelio City and the Region Mags will be decorated for this occasion. In addition, players can obtain Seasonal Points and exchange them for the Revolcoat series of weapons, which come pre-augumented and leveled up, so you can quickly increase your Battle Power. Furthermore, there will also be a limited-time quest called Nazun’s Big Quiz, where players must answer a series of questions regarding the game.

Next, we have some AC Scratch Tickets, starting with the Designer Dreams Jul ’23 edition, which will contain the third batch of Item Design Contest winners. Furthermore, there’s also the Exotic Summer Night Scratch Ticket, featuring Japanese-patterned swimsuits, loose-fitting jinbei and lace yukatas! Some of these outfits look…interesting, to say the least. New additions for the SG Scratch Tickets were also unveiled, including clothing and CAST parts allowing players to dress up as Crawford, Pharia and Zephetto!

Next, the developers have unveiled a brand-new roadmap of updates can expect throughout the second half of 2023. Some interesting things include an Alliance Space feature, and the fact that Chapter 6 of the Main Story will be divided into four different parts which will be gradually coming. Furthermore, in green text, we can also see that there will be new collaborations with a sci-fi anime and an action anime in the coming months.

In August 2023, the roadmap mentions a collab with an isekai anime, and the anime that was chosen was Uncle from Another World (Known in Japanese as Isekai Ojisan)! This collaboration will feature avatars, Weapon Camo, Emotes, Stamps, Portable Holograms, and more! More details will be revealed in the next broadcast of the NGS Headline, which is scheduled for July 25, 2023.

Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis is a new MMORPG part of the PSO2 universe but is a brand new adventure offering upgraded visuals and a new narrative, amongst other quality-of-life updates. It is considered a “huge-scale update” to Phantasy Star Online 2. Players will find new game systems created using a new graphics engine. The update was made to celebrate the series’s 2oth anniversary and the tenth anniversary of Phantasy Star Online 2. 

Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis is available now on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC (via Steam, Epic Games Store or the Microsoft Store) and PlayStation 4 as a free-to-play game. You can watch the NGS Headline here:
