Persona Franchise Sells 15.5 Million Units Worldwide

Sega Sammy’s latest business overview report has revealed that the Persona franchise has sold 15.5 million units worldwide, which is roughly 500,000 units higher than last year’s report. Admittedly, this jump in sales is not as significant as Shin Megami Tensei’s.

Still, the recent re-release of Persona 5 Royal and the upcoming modern ports of Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden are sure to amplify those sales numbers to staggering heights.

However, what is especially notable and pretty wild is that the Persona 5 subseries, specifically, has sold over 7.22 million units worldwide, with 77% of those sales originating from overseas. Thanks to the Megami Tensei fansite, Persona Central, for identifying this information.

Persona 5’s success has been in everyone’s faces since its initial launch, but seeing how gargantuan its sales are compared to the rest of the franchise is almost mind-boggling.
