In a report by SteamDB, it was revealed that the Steam port of Persona 5 Royal has reached a staggering amount of 31,133 concurrent players in the little over a day since its release. In fact, this number even tops out when Persona 4 Golden‘s almost 30,000 concurrent user peak when it was released two years ago.
Keep in mind that because SteamDB only tracks the titular storefront, there’s still the fact that you can play the game for free with an active Game Pass subscription and even steal hearts on the go with the Nintendo Switch version, so the number of users could be far greater than that.
This immensely positive reception makes me really glad that even after seven years since the original Persona 5‘s release, the Royal version still remains highly acclaimed by players and critics alike as the definitive way to experience this title, and I extend my congratulations to the Atlus team for making such a successful multi-platform release.
Persona 5 Royal is now available for PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Game Pass, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Windows and Steam on October 21, 2022. There is no planned upgrade path to PlayStation 5 for PlayStation 4 users.
Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden are also launching for modern platforms on January 13, 2023. The former is not available on any contemporary platforms, while the latter is currently only available on PC via Steam.
