Persona 3 Remake Officially Announced — Persona 3 Reload Releasing Early 2024

During the latest Xbox Games Showcase, Atlus and Microsoft officially announced the highly rumored Persona 3 Remake, titled Persona 3 Reload, set to release in early 2024. This title features an updated presentation built in the Unreal Engine.

Further, a Game Pass day-one launch is planned on Xbox One, Windows, and Xbox Series X|S. Atlus will likely confirm other platforms soon.

Persona 3 Reload’s Producer and Chief Director were interviewed by IGN.

Producer Ryota Niitsuma stated the following:

“So first I’d like to mention that since the basic concept of the Persona 3 remake was to remake the Persona 3, we don’t have the FES and Portable contents included. We wanted to really genuinely work on recreating the Persona 3 experience.”

“So we can’t really go into the details at this point yet, but we have remade basically everything from scratch as for Persona 3 the original version. So we have newly recorded voices, we have new scenes and events. We also have both new and arranged music. We’ll be kind of releasing that information, following everything. So please look forward to that.”

Chief Director Kazuhisa Wada stated the following:

“So the basic concept of recreating the Persona story was that we wanted to keep everything from the original version, but update everything to the modern day. So at the same level of Persona 5, basically. So we have the newest graphics, we have updated the system to the newest usability… We have the voice lines in [both Japanese and English.] We also have the text available in 13 languages. So you should be able to have similar experiences to that of Persona 5.”

Persona 3 was initially a PlayStation 2 title that birthed the concept of Social Links that would follow in Persona 4 and Persona 5. Then, a director’s cut version named FES launched later, featuring a new playable epilogue called The Answer and added enhanced gameplay features. Years later, Persona 3 Portable was released for the PSP, which removed The Answer and the ability to walk around town but added the option to play as a female protagonist and new post-game challenges.
