The Infocomm Media Development Authority recently posted its classification information for the upcoming Atlus turn-based JRPG Persona 3 Reload, comprised of lengthy passages summating the game’s general contents.
While there’s plenty to dig into here, one of the most substantial statements seems to confirm that romances are optional. For those unaware, the Social Links for most female characters as the male protagonist would always result in romance. Unlike Persona 4 and Persona 5, no choice for rejection was provided, so seeing this choice potentially incorporated is expected yet still appreciated.
You can view the relevant quoted passage below:
“When the player sufficiently builds up the male protagonist’s bonds with certain female characters, it can culminate in optional depictions of characters hugging and kissing, and textual descriptions implying sexual intimacy. Under the ADV16 rating, depictions of “still or moving images which may be mildly suggestive” and “nudity without details” are permitted.”

Thanks to @CrimsonMk3 for spotting this.
