Penny Blood Reveals 3 Dense Side Stories Readable Online; English Translations
The official website for the recently kickstarted gothic horror JRPG, Penny Blood, also known as the spiritual successor to Shadow Hearts, has been updated with several posts regarding the game’s development. One of the most significant series of articles is called “Worldbuilding Wednesdays,” where various environments and characters are introduced and detailed. Another weekly feature is “Mechanics Mondays,” discussing gameplay mechanics.
However, the side stories are one of the densest parts of the website. Two translators from the Penny Blood campaign team, Ari Lee and Donna Grey write these stories, with creator Matsuzo Machida producing them.
Further, Machida notes the following about these narratives:
“Since I haven’t begun working on the main story for the game yet, the backgrounds and stories featured here may not match up with what ultimately appears in the game…These stories mainly center around the Hellhounders, the anarchist terrorism group that will serve as the adversaries for Matthew and the BOI. It’d make me happy if you let me know what you thought after reading.”
