Pearl Abyss Takes Over Publishing of Black Desert Online Beginning in February With New Roadmap Revealed

Pearl Abyss announced that that they will be taking over the publishing rights of Black Desert Online Beginning on February 24. Currently, the game is published by Kakao Games. On January 27, the team will open a website for players to begin their data transfer.

Kakao Games issued a statement about the transfer adding, “Many great memories have been forged over the last five years, and we have the utmost confidence that many more will be created as the service continues under their management. The finer details of the handover are still being established, so we will be sure to keep you informed on the process as the final date draws closer.”

After February 24, Pearl Abyss will begin self-publishing Black Desert Online in North America and Europe.

Additionally, Jeseok Jang, Black Desert’s Head of Game Design, revealed a new roadmap for the game with new content coming to all platforms beginning on December 22.

First off, though, a new hero, Nova, is set to launch on Black Desert Mobile on December 15 and PC and consoles on December 16. Additionally, a new expansion will be available on December 22 for Black Desert Mobile, adding the Great Desert area to the game.

Some features and game modes coming in the first half of 2021:

  • Black Desert Online and Black Desert Console will launch new PvP content, including massive battles between Calpheon and Valencia, with Adventurers from across all servers able to join the fray.
  • New 10 v 10 PVP “crew battles” are planned for early 2021.
  • Upcoming adjustments to Node Wars – a large scale PvP mode where guilds duke it out for territory ownership – will make it so that players can launch right into the mode from their own camp.

Black Desert is an MMORPG available on Xbox One, PS4, PC, and mobile devices. The game has gained a lot of attention from MMORPG fans for its second life offerings and attention to high-quality animations and character customization. Players will take on quests and explore the dungeons around them as their world expands, and they create their own adventure. The game also features various modes, both PvP and PvE.

Black Desert is available in over 150 countries and supports 12 languages. Currently, there are over 30 million registered users.
