Patapon Spiritual Successor ‘Ratatan’ Teased in Trailer; Kickstarter Launching Later This Month
Ratata Arts announced they are working with developer TVT on Ratatan, a spiritual successor to the rhythm adventure game Patapon.
The developer is made up of the designer of Patapon, Hiroyuki Kotani, who is the lead designer on this new project. Further, Kemei Adachi is returning as the sound designer, and Nelnal is the lead concept artist. Also, the developer is led by Toshiyuki Yasui, known for his work on God Eater and Freedom Wars.
Currently, only a teaser trailer has been shared, but the developer promises that more news will be released on July 28. Additionally, the team has plans to launch a Kickstarter on July 31, 2023, to help with the funding and development of the project.
Kotania-san shared that he wants “this to be the right mix of modern gameplay and classic feel that the fans know and love. Thank you for your support and any coverage you can provide!”
Patapon was developed for the PSP and was first released in 2007. The rhythm game turned into a series receiving two sequels before getting a re-release on PS4. The game has players tap into the must to execute attacks against strong foes. It’s a very cute game.
