Nintendo released a new trailer for their upcoming RPG adventure, Paper Mario: The Origami King, coming to Nintendo Switch on July 17.
Paper Mario: The Origami King tells the story of King Olly, who has just moved Peach’s Castle in his plot to “fold the world.” However, Mario ends up accessing a power that allows him to wield a paper technique and put a stop to him. This ends up leading Mario through multiple environments, including sewers, rapids, ruins, onions, and desert oasis.
Across the adventure, Mario will meet new allies who will join him on his quest, including a Bob-omb who lost his memory, the Toad professor of ancient history, and even Kemek, the Magikoopa who seems always to be plotting something.
Paper Mario: The Origami King’s battles systems revolve around ring-based battles that require a bit of strategy during fights. Players can choose actions and execute a second well-timed button press to maximize damage. Also, enemies are weaker to specific skills and abilities, which comes into play during some of the tougher encounters.
Outside of battle, Mario can investigate the environments for hidden items, toss confetti to repair holes in the landscape, discover loads of Toads hiding in the scenery, play mini-games to earn in-game rewards, and reveal new secrets and treasures.
