Overwhelm Gets Nintendo Switch Release Date With Exclusive Co-op Mode

Alliance Games announced that the Ruari O’Sullivan developed fast action platformer, Overwhelm, will release on Nintendo Switch on April 4.

Overwhelm features a handful of features that will make it increasingly difficult for the player to progress through the levels. For starters, the enemies in the game can acquire power-ups, but sadly, the player doesn’t. However, the Switch version comes with an advantage that allows players to play through the entire game locally with a friend. This opens up the possibility for players to revive each other while taking down the game’s five bosses that will give their power to enemies as soon as they’re defeated. It’s up to the player to choose the order, but it’s going to get tough regardless.

Overwhelm released on PC in 2018 and is developed by one person, Ruari O’Sullivan. The game currently has a “Very Positive” review score from Steam players who say that the game’s tight controls and well-developed features, but have criticized the game’s camera.

You can check out the game’s Switch launch trailer showing the new co-op gameplay and level designs in Overwhelm below. The co-op mode is made exclusively for the Switch version.

Author’s take: How come I’ve never heard of this game!? The only thing I would think at first glance is it’s pretty dark, but that’s never stopped me from enjoying games before!
