Publisher PQube has confirmed that the otome visual novel Him, the Smile & Bloom will still launch on February 27, 2025, for Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam, but the final English script edit will not be ready in time for release. Instead, it will arrive via a post-launch patch.
PQube acknowledged that the localization process took longer than expected but assured fans they remain committed to delivering a polished experience. While the initial release will be fully playable, the final script edit will be patched in at a later date. This likely means owners of the physical version will need to update their game via the internet, but the cartridge will contain this initial localization.
PQube’s Full Statement
A big thank you to everyone who has shown their support for our upcoming Him, the Smile & Bloom release.
We would like to update you all on the current status of the English script edit.
As many of you already know, we have been working hard on the English edit. Unfortunately, it has taken a little longer than expected for us to complete the script edit to the quality we would like in time for the February 27 release date.
As a result, the completed edit will be patched in post-release and will not be ready in time for launch as originally hoped. The current version is still highly enjoyable, and we recommend you give it a try!
Our apologies for the delay in delivering the final patch to you all—we look forward to the update after release.
A Unique Otome Experience With Four Couples
Unlike traditional otome games, which focus on a single protagonist choosing between multiple love interests, Him, the Smile & Bloom follows four separate couples, each navigating their own relationships.
Set in a small-town flower shop, the game explores romance, personal struggles, and emotional growth, with multiple endings per couple that don’t necessarily define love stories as simply “good” or “bad.”
It’s always a bittersweet feeling to get news like this, given we want these titles to come west, but a delay might have been better in this case.
