Otome Inspired by Japanese History ‘Bakumatsu Renka Shinsengumi’ Coming to PC and Switch This June
D3 Publisher has announced that Bakumatsu Renka Shinsengumi is coming to Switch and PC (Steam) on June 27. Originally released for PS2 only in Japan, this new version of the otome game will also be available in the West, with English, Chinese, and Traditional Japanese subtitles.
Bakumatsu Renka Shinsengumi tells the story of a young girl whose missing father used to be the master in a local dojo. However, he decided to travel to get more recognition for his sword skills. This, unfortunately, forces her and her mother to close the dojo and become retainers of the daimyo’s sister-in-law, Teruhime.
Empathizing with her situation, Teruhime decides to ask the daimyo, Katamori Matsudaira, to allow the girl to join a group of swordsmen. This group called Mibu Roushi would eventually become the famed Shinsengumi.
Besides higher quality visuals compared to the previous Japan-only versions, this new release also includes new features such as long jump and auto-save, and a new gallery with character arts, packaging illustrations, and even arts from merchandise that was originally event-exclusive.
