Original .hack Remaster Currently Not in Development, But Never Say Never

CyberConnect2 released a new Q&A video where the developer answers fan questions from around the world.

In this entry, the developer jumped right to the meat of it by answering if there will ever be a .hack remaster, such as with 2017’s .hack//G.U. Last Recode. Sadly, Hiroshi-san stated that this project is currently not in the works.

However, they still care a great deal about the series and urge fans to direct their requests to Bandai Namco to show their demand. He adds that CyberConnect2 is just the developer of the series, but the publisher is Bandai Namco and they’ll be the ones to greenlight the project. Throughout the video, the team shares messages from fans demanding a remaster release of .hack.

He also adds that if fans purchase .hack//G.U. Last Recode it might speed up the publisher’s decision and concludes by saying that CyberConnect2 wants to remaster the first four titles of .hack more than anyone.

In case you want to know more, we had an interview with the developer about how they are self-publishing in the west and their desire to continue the support of the .hack series.

.hack//G.U. Last Recode is available now on PlayStation 4 and PC-via Steam.
