Netflix has announced that an anime adaptation for Onimusha, the Capcom-developed action-adventure title, is in development by animation studio Sublimation. The currently revealed staff comprises Takashi Miike as the Chief Director, Shinya Sugai as the Director, and Toshihiro Mifune being the live actor model for Musashi Miyamoto.
Netflix shared the following introductory blurb for the show:
“The beginning of the Edo period, Musashi is no longer a young man. He departs with the legendary Oni Gauntlet to defeat the Genma. 3D CGI characters and hand-drawn backgrounds create phenomenal visuals. Onimusha is given a new life using modern-day animation technology.”
There is currently no confirmation on how many episodes fans can be expected from this adaptation nor what the general launch window will be.
The first title, Onimusha: Warlords, was released for the PlayStation 2 in 2001. However, it received a modern launch for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch in 2019.

Onimusha: Warlords follows the journey of a samurai named Samanosuke Akechi and a ninja named Kaede, who are on a quest to save Princess Yuki, who resides in the Inabayama Castle. Evidently, this isn’t going to be easy for the two heroes to accomplish due to the castle being invaded by demons that were created as part of a plot by the evil lord Nobunaga Oda.
