One Piece Odyssey Reunion of Memories DLC Announced; New Story & Characters, Focus on Challenging Combat

Bandai Namco has announced that their turn-based JRPG One Piece Odyssey will receive a new DLC story scenario titled Reunion of Memories. In a new Producer message, it was revealed that the primary aim of this DLC is to incorporate fan-favorite stories and battle segments, with the theme being “New Hidden Story with Bonds.”

Combat will also be more of a focus throughout this scenario, with the recommended level being what is expected of beating the main game. Further, new characters not in the base game will appear.

UPDATE 5/6/2023: Bandai Namco has shared new screenshots, viewable via our gallery below:

One Piece Odyssey is an adventure RPG where players will experience a new adventure with the Straw Hat Pirates. The game will feature new characters and monster designs by Eiichiro Oda, the author of One Piece. Further, music is being handled by Motoi Sakuraba, who is known for the Dark Souls and Tales series.

Oda, the creator of One Piece, designed two original characters for this game, Adio and Lim. Several new animals were also made by Oda, such as the Dry Penguin and Leviathan. Summatively, significant time was spent trying to make the title feel instilled with One Piece’s aesthetic identity.

One facet of the turn-based combat is Scramble Area Battles, comprising several areas where all combatants will be randomly assigned, requiring players to understand and experiment with the cast’s techniques. Another mechanic is Dramatic Scene, which contextually impacts party members, such as Sanji’s inability to attack if women surround him.
