Old Sega Consoles Are Playable Characters in Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania For Some Reason
The official Super Monkey Ball Youtube channel has shared a new trailer for the upcoming Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania, revealing even more playable characters on top of the already numerously revealed ones. Although, calling these new inclusions “characters’ is a bit disingenuous.
The Game Gear, Sega Saturn, and Sega Dreamcast will all be playable in this new entry. I sincerely doubt anyone was expecting these objects of all things to be actual, playable characters, but the more, the merrier, I guess?
These “characters” are included with purchases of the Digital Deluxe Edition. Alternatively, players can purchase the Sega Legends Pack DLC, which includes these 3 consoles.

This game brings back elements from the Super Monkey Ball franchise’s past that many have been longing for well over a decade as it contains remasters of Super Monkey Ball, Super Monkey Ball 2, and Super Monkey Ball Deluxe. This package contains over 300 levels and 12 minigames for veterans and newcomers to sink dozens of hours into. In addition, the remastered effort has been faithfully developed as an enhanced version of the original with new graphics and content.
The latest entries of the Super Monkey Ball franchise have not been particularly well-received by fans; in fact, the majority, if not all of the titles post Gamecube era, have received overwhelmingly negative reactions from the fanbase. In a similar vein to Sonic Mania, perhaps, this package likely aims to be a soft reboot for the Super Monkey Ball franchise, and what better method of doing so than delving back in the past to revive the glory days?
Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania is releasing for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch, and PC on October 5, 2021.
