Square Enix has yet to officially announce Octopath Traveler 3, but series producer Tomoya Asano has directly acknowledged the potential sequel and the expectations surrounding it.
During a recent interview with Dengeki, Asano discussed the eight years since the original Octopath Traveler introduced HD-2D. The series is approaching its tenth anniversary, and Asano acknowledged that expectations for a third numbered entry are particularly high. However, he currently has nothing to announce.
Masashi Takahashi similarly acknowledged the expectations surrounding the series. Asano emphasized that the development team is aware of the level of interest in another numbered game. Later in the interview, Asano described Octopath Traveler as the central pillar of the team’s work.
Thanks to Nintendo Everything for sharing this news.
Octopath Traveler I and II are available on PlayStation, Xbox, PC, and Nintendo Switch. Switch 2 versions will arrive in the West on October 1, 2026.
