No Nihon Falcom Game Seems To Be Fully Steam Deck Verified Yet
Valve has launched a brand new checker on their official Steam website to validate the Steam Deck compatibility of users’ libraries. After checking my list of supported games, I noticed that The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III is listed explicitly as not being supported.
Additionally, no Nihon Falcom game has been Steam Deck verified yet based on this new list, with Ys: The Oath in Felghana being a half exception as it is part of the category that is Steam Deck launchable but not fully supported. However, it is worth noting that only a fraction of my owned games were even acknowledged by Steam Deck verification, so this list is far from finalized.
I was previously under the impression that Ys: IX Monstrum Nox was at least verified since it was shown on the Steam Deck months ago, but it’s specifically listed as unsupported alongside Ys: Memories of Celceta and Ys Origin.
There is a separate tool that individuals are using to test potential Steam Deck compatibility, ProtonDB. However, we will only be basing verification via Valve’s official tools.

The next localized entry for the Trails franchise will be Trails from Zero.
Trails from Zero has players take control of protagonist Lloyd Bannings and the rest of the Special Support Section as they aid the citizens of Crossbell City with various tasks and gradually uncover a deep-seated corruption at the heart of the city with criminality at its core.
Alongside the strategical turn-based combat fans have expected from the series, the addition of cooperative attacks with party members makes the bonds between the Special Support Section an active ingredient in combat potential. This release boasts a High-Speed mode, which prior localized Trails entries contain. This functionality allows players to speed past cutscenes, combat, and exploration for whatever reasons they deem fit.
The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero is releasing for Switch, PlayStation 4, and PC via the Epic Games Store and Steam in Fall 2022.
The Limited Edition of Trails from Zero’s localized release is currently available to pre-order for U.S. and European customers.
