NIS America Shares The Opening Movie For Upcoming JRPG Monark With Theme Song ‘Nihil’

Publisher NIS America has uploaded a new trailer for the FuRyu-developed RPG Monark, showcasing the title’s opening movie. It is rather captivating and does more than enough to sell this title, at least from a general lens. From the engaging-looking battle system to the appealing character designs, Monark is certainly on my radar for being a must-play next year.

The theme song is titled “Nihil”, with vocals by KAF, and performed with music and lyrics by Iori Kanzaki.

You can view the opening movie for Monark below:

Monark takes place in Shin Mikado Academy, where the player character has just awoken. The academy lies beyond a barrier separate from the real world and is plagued by a Mist that can mentally overwhelm humans. Luckily, Daemonic powers reside in this world that can allow humans to survive, and you’ve just acquired the Authority of Vanity. From here, the player character and four others create the True Studen Council and fight against the darkness.

The gameplay features a balancing act between Authority and Madness where using Authority will raise your MAD Gauge. When at max, you will attack enemies and allies. Further, players will add six characters to the part with a free movement battle system. The academy grounds can be explored to connect to the Otherworld, which leads to solving mysteries.

Develop your Ego through various psychological tests to enhance the power of your Fiends, and lead your forces into battle to fight with and against the seven “Pactbearers” that are corrupting the academy. Embrace the power of your madness to gain strength, but take care not to delve too far, lest you risk losing yourself. Fellow students and instructors will lend you their aid in your quest to resolve the anomalies throughout the campus.

Monark is releasing for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC-via Steam in early 2022.
