NIS America Announces PAX East 2023 Demos; Trails into Reverie, Nayuta: Boundless Trails & More
Publisher NIS America has announced the games that will receive playable demos at booth #12017 in PAX East from March 23 through March 26, 2023. Also, exclusive merchandise, including the Hero Plump Prinny Plush and acrylic prints, will be available.
A Stamp Rally will be held, too, with a chance to win a Disgaea 7: Vows of the Virtueless lanyard and pin. Further, if event-goers scan their badge at the PAX XP Prize Station, they can win one of the 100+ prizes to be given out daily.
Each of the games receiving demos is listed below:
Originally released on PS2, GrimGrimoire OnceMore tells the story of Lillet Blan, a young girl who recently joined the Silver Star Tower academy and wishes to become a great magician. As she learns the art of summoning familiars, she will have to do her best to deal with the perils hidden within the tower.
A new gameplay mechanic, Grand Magic, has been implemented. This allows access to exceptional skills, such as Mana Burst, which deals fire damage across a wide radius, and Resurrection, restoring the health of familiars. In addition, a new skill tree has also been added, where players can spend coins earned from completing optional missions to obtain upgrades, including familiar strengthening, magic buffs, and more.
Regarding convenience, fast-forward mode does the self-explanatory to make battle actions pass by more swiftly. Further, the newly added Hard difficulty will challenge those who want to push their strategic know-how to their limits. Other new features comprise the aspect ratio being upgraded from 4:3 to 16:9 and voice lines being added to combat.
GrimGrimoire OnceMore will launch for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch on April 4, 2023.
The Legend of Heroes: Trails into Reverie
This title takes place after Trails of Cold Steel IV and features a new mechanic called Zapping that has players switch between playable protagonists and parties at a moment’s notice. The Trails of Cold Steel protagonist, Rean Schwarzer, Crossbell protagonist, Lloyd Bannings, and the brand new character C, are the leaders of these three parties. They face their own unique threats before eventually uniting against something especially grand.
The Legend of Heroes: Trails into Reverie is launching for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC in the Summer of 2023.
The Legend of Heroes: Trails to Azure
This entry, the direct sequel to The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero, is the conclusion to the acclaimed Crossbell duology. The Special Support Section reunites after pursuing their own paths for some months. However, intense political tension brews in their city, causing conspiracies to run amok and throw off their veils.
The Legend of Heroes: Trails to Azure is now available in North America on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam, the Epic Games Store, and GOG.
Rhapsody Marl Kingdom Chronicles
This package contains both Rhapsody II: Ballad of the Little Princess and Rhapsody III: Memories of Marl Kingdom. These games have never launched West before, with II initially released for the PlayStation 1 in 1999. Rhapsody III was originally on PlayStation 2 in 2000.
Story progression comprises multiple chapters, and combat is tactical, allowing for an array of customizable elements the developer, Nippon Ichi Software, is known for. Further, games take place after the events of the previously released Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure.
Rhapsody Marl Kingdom Chronicles will launch for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam in the Summer of 2023.
The Legend of Nayuta: Boundless Trails
In this title, players take control of Nayuta, who dreams of the outside world and what lies beyond the confines of his home. Soon after reconvening with his friends and other denizens on his island, Nayuta ends up saving a mysterious fairy by the name of Noi. This fairy-like girl asks for Nayuta’s help in recovering something stolen from her, and this journey takes him to the stretches of existence he has only ever dreamed of.
This disconnected spinoff of the Trails franchise is more akin to the developer’s Zwei series, focusing on platforming and real-time combat with a more methodical approach.
The Legend of Nayuta: Boundless Trails will launch for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC in Fall 2023.
