NIS America Shares Music Clip #1 of The Cruel King and the Great Hero; ‘Solace in the Stars’

Publisher NIS America has shared a music clip for the upcoming The Cruel King and the Great Hero, titled “Solace in the Stars.” This track is simultaneously jovial yet dismal, already painting a vivid picture of the tragic tone this title will likely pursue. The song also gives me some Ar Tonelico vibes, which is an automatic win in my book.

The Cruel King and the Great Hero features a storybook-inspired art style by childhood storybooks. The project is written and illustrated by Sayaka Oda, who also worked on The Liar Princess and The Blind Prince.

In the title, players witness a young girl, Yuu, being raised by a dragon and the adventures that they share daily. It’s almost adorable to see the two interact, but you know they will face some trials throughout the narrative. She dreams of becoming a hero like her father, so she goes on many adventures. As the player explores the areas, it’ll be possible to find hidden items. In addition, they will unlock illustrations, character profiles, and other goodies for the game gallery.

The Cruel King and the Great Hero is releasing for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 in 2022.
