UPDATES: NIS America Announces Week of Falcom News; New Game Announcements, Activities & Sweepstakes

Publisher NIS America has announced that this week is to be full of news and announcements related to Nihon Falcom. Each day of this week will boast some type of news, whether it be minor or major.

So far, the currently revealed announcements are listed below:

An Ys 35th Anniversary Collector’s Pin & Acrylic is available for pre-order for $39.99 ahead of a March 2023 shipment.

UPDATE 10/18/2022: NIS America and NIS America Europe are hosting giveaways for an Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana-themed PlayStation 5 controller alongside the Deluxe Edition of the game’s upcoming PlayStation 5 port. UPDATE 10/18/2022: NIS America’s recent Steam blog post confirms that The Legend of Heroes: Trails into Reverie is launching in Summer 2023.

An official stream on October 20, 2022, via the official NIS America Twitch channel at 4:30 PM PT/7:30 PM ET will “dive into the latest and greatest Ys news.”

UPDATES FROM THE YS STREAM:

• Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana will run at 120 FPS at 1080p and 60 FPS at 4K resolution.
• No PS4 to PS5 upgrading because of DLC (yet to be fully confirmed.)
• Trophy list is separate from PlayStation 4 & no PS4 to PS5 cross-save (yet to be fully confirmed)
• Much faster loading, higher-resolution textures, greater draw distance, smoother shadows, Keyboard & Mouse Support
• No plans to bring DLC to other platforms
• No co-op mode from PC
• The additional DLC costumes added to the PS5 version, such as the Laxia Greek Summer & School Swimsuit costumes and the Instructor Rean Hug-Hug attachment, have no plans to come to other versions.

UPDATE 10/20/2022: A preview video of Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana’s “Lacrimosa of Dana” Christmas arrangement was shared, viewable below. This album, comprising two tracks, will be included in the incoming PlayStation 5 version of the game.

The limited edition for The Legend of Heroes: Trails into Reverie was revealed via the official Falcom event website, viewable below. Pre-orders are not yet available.
