Nioh Franchise Sells Over 7 Million Units Worldwide
Publisher Koei Tecmo and developer Team Ninja have announced that the Nioh franchise has sold over seven million units worldwide across all platforms.
The first title was initially launched on February 2017, while the sequel was released in March 2020. Congratulations to the development teams, and here’s hoping for an eventual third entry on the horizon. It’s also worth noting that Nioh 2 sold over two million copies worldwide in April 2021.
The second game is joining PlayStation Plus’ monthly games lineup in October 2022.

If you missed it, check out our review of Nioh 2’s PC port and how it is the definitive version.
Nioh 2 launched in March 2020 on PS4 before releasing an updated version on PS5 and PC in February 2021. The series together have sold over 5 million copies, including sales of 2017’s Nioh. The game is a high fantasy action title that requires players to use skill to overcome the many powerful enemies that await them. However, its high difficulty level doesn’t seem to be holding it back from reaching a broad audience of gamers.
Nioh 2 is currently available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
